2018 Municipal Election: Toronto Council Races

There isn't much of an Italian vote in the area represented by Peruzza at all.

Meanwhile, St. Paul's went NDP and the Conservatives came in third there.

Yes that is all true, and it is discouraging that he got away with it!

2018 Municipal Election: Toronto Council Races

Beth Levy has David Crombie's endorsement. She'd have a better chance under 47 wards (running in the "North Toronto" part of Eg-Law which has a very weak incumbent) but it's going to be very difficult for anyone to beat Mike Colle with 25 since he has represented the entirety of the ward.

So there's as much support for secession as there is for Ford's use of NWC.

The Harris Tories lost significant ground in Toronto in 1999, but still dominated in 905 and won a majority provincewide. Perhaps they're thinking they can repeat the same?

    Premier Doug Ford's Ontario

Mainstreet will have a poll out showing a majority of Torontonians are opposed to the use of NWC.

Mainstreet has a poll on Ford's use of NWC coming out tomorrow.

2018 Municipal Election: Toronto Council Races

I'm noticing a divide on who is best positioned to defeat Mammoliti in the (almost certain, unfortunately) switch to 25 wards. Some are say Anthony Peruzza because of incumbency (John Filion called on people to support him at last week's rally for example) but Tiffany Ford seems to have a lot...

    PM Justin Trudeau's Canada

York Region is trending more toward the Conservatives than the rest of the GTA. Their vote held up pretty well there during the "red wave" of 2015 (and of course Ford's PCs did very well there).

Not so sure about that. This isn't a "David Emerson" type switch where the switcher's new party is such a bad fit for their constituency.
  16. K

    Premier Doug Ford's Ontario

Ford got 1/3 of the vote municipally and the PCs got 1/3 of the vote in Toronto. I don't think he's done a thing to expand his support, and he seems to be doing everything not to expand his support base.
  17. K

    Premier Doug Ford's Ontario

Another 15-20% in Toronto? Good luck with that!
  18. K

    Premier Doug Ford's Ontario

Not surprising really. So the hardcore Ford base is about 25% of the Toronto electorate.
  19. K

    Premier Doug Ford's Ontario

Seems like the "never Ford" Tories had about as much impact as "never Trump" Republicans in the US.

It'll be interesting to see if either Mitzie Hunter or Michael Coteau jump to federal politics.
