Interesting that they appear to be doing poured in place instead of modular.

I figure that they are looking at least 10 years before demolition if they are going to do a hotel conversion here first.

    Parking - Catch All

yes, as I said, peak rates are generally a bit lower. Private garages downtown peak at around $40/day, while in other major cities I have seen it closer to $50-$60/day. What I do see in Toronto is a much larger sustained area where only paid parking is the option - other cities from my...

    Parking - Catch All

I don't find parking to be particularly or noticeably cheaper than other major cities. Peak pricing downtown levels out below other major centres in north america, including cities much more car dependent, but there is very little free parking anywhere in central Toronto and street parking meter...

I will leave one more comment. The Provincial Press release seems to indicate that another building is coming.. https://news.ontario.ca/en/release/1006725/ontario-investing-83-million-to-support-affordable-student-housing-in-downtown-toronto

    Toronto Toronto | Bloor–Danforth Line 2 Scarborough Subway Extension | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

The current pace was impacted by months of no movement. The rest of the tunnel should move relatively quickly - probably early 2027 would be my guess. The project is definitely behind but not that wildly so, at least so far.

at 20 storeys of residential floors and 1,370 beds, that would be 65-70 beds a floor.

As a university project, yup. No municipal process at all. Still hope they thought about wind mitigation here at least a little bit given that built form.. Speaking of which:

jesus what does the wind study say about that built form?

Highway 401 Transit and Auto Tunnel

Subway extensions need land to throw up venting, emergency exits, and station buildings - in the case of a 401 tunnel, there would be no stations, only emergency exits and venting structures, as well as tunnel portals. Those structures would need to go somewhere - but despite common belief the...

yea. I wonder if they have combined it with their landholdings to the west. Apparently TMU also owns 104 Bond directly to the north: https://www.bisnow.com/toronto/news/mixed-use/behind-the-deal-ryerson-university-buys-104-bond-st-66526 They also own 110 and 112 Bond, which are already in use...

1,370 student beds in a building the size of the original application is.. interesting. Do they have additional property here? I feel like it's going to have to be quite a bit larger than what's approved (at the same height!) to fit that many beds. Lincoln Alexander Hall in Hamilton has 1,366...

    Toronto Pearson International Airport

the part that starts this year from my understanding is more along the lines of "renovations" than "expansion". The expansion part is a few years out but still proceeding. Like all infrastructure projects in this province, it all seems to be done under the shroud of absolute secrecy.

It looks like it's still owned by Bazis - just that they will be building it under contract to TMU. The latest submitted plans from 2022 indicate 311 units - the article quoted says 336, so I suspect we will see updated plans soon.

PATH Network Expansion (various, various, various)

out of CIBC Square I. It will be a huge pedestrian bridge out over the parking ramp to CIBC Square off Yonge St, then under the Gardiner and into Pinnacle One Yonge. I have no idea on timing - not sure if Pinnacle is building it as a part of the current phase or waiting for phase 3.

    Toronto Toronto | Cambridge Suites Redevelopment | 230.85m | 71s | Centennial Hotels Limited | WZMH

https://renx.ca/manga-balances-hotel-growth-with-apartment-development Sold to Manga. They apparently plan to renovate the existing hotel. I would probably consider this application "Cancelled". There is also no longer an active application on the AIC.
