D.O.P will be relocating to the grain exchange building.

    Calgary | Nimmons Court | 32m | 6s | Brava Developments | Casola Koppe

This is a very bizarre project. I am glad they were able to deliver and incorporate the heritage building, but I find that the new development neither complements nor contrasts for an effective pairing. Matching the tone of the heritage brick might have been the way to go here to help tie it...

I think the glow and lighting in all of the renders is doing some pretty heavy lifting to make this project appear fantastic. While I don't mind the arched podium aesthetic, I think the base of the building is missing the fine grain stickiness and human scale details that would actually make it...

    Hillhurst Block | 19m | 4s | Eagle Crest | FAAS Architecture

Agreed that boutique office is a good fit here. adds to the mix of uses for a developing 'off-main' main street greater day-time vibrancy and foot traffic that supports growing retail options walkable local employment opportunity There is an interesting street rhythm happening along 19 ST. I...

Can confirm large sections of face-fastened hardie panel visible from south side of memorial. Brick sections look great though!

Liner retail on Broadcast Avenue would be a great outcome indeed. Hard to imagine they'd make the gateway site to their main street a dead zone given the upfront quality investments.

    Calgary | West District | ?m | ?s | Truman

The bottom of the faded out render looks to be already built out suburban commercial and not part of Truman's West District masterplan. The white building in the bottom left I think is the existing World Bier Haus. All in all a pretty small parking field that is tucked away from the main street...

    Calgary | The Fifth | 17m | 5s | Arlington Street | NORR

Good points. I think this building will do what it was set out to do and help activate this corner well, especially around the ground floor. Given the plans for some sort of public art I think there is an opportunity to use the blank gap on the building wall. It just seems drab and a peculiar...

    Calgary | The Fifth | 17m | 5s | Arlington Street | NORR

I’ll hold my judgement until the grade level treatment is revealed, but I’m not fully understanding the lust for this project. One of the most prominent and active street corners in the city and this has residential style sized windows and a massive blank wall facade facing 5th. Thank god it...

    Calgary | Hampton Inn by Hilton | 56.08m | 17s | Triple One | NORR

Hopefully this doesn't turn out like the East Village Hilton and completely cheap out at the ground floor and main level entry materials. Finger crossed on no rivets and hardie board. Otherwise the first two floors look pretty cool!

    Calgary | Beacon | ?m | 2s | RNDSQR | 5468796 Architecture

I like this building, but I don't know why they didn't add wood bench seating on top of the concrete areas in front of the CRUs. I think some warmth in material and more plantings would have helped quite a bit. I think what is most heinous is how signage is being "stuck" on....it's tacky and...

    Calgary | The Dorian | 98.45m | 27s | PBA Land Development | Gibbs Gage

Agreed. This glass graphic element reminds me of number of buildings in Montreal. First time seeing it as a common design aesthetic-- and the possibilities are pretty endless.

    Calgary | Courtyard 33 | 21.64m | 6s | RNDSQR | 5468796 Architecture

This should quiet down some of the haters. I think it's fair to call this project a success and it'll only get better when the tenant line-up moves in! I'll take a CY33 over a hardie board box special any day!

    Calgary | Courtyard 33 | 21.64m | 6s | RNDSQR | 5468796 Architecture

I actually think this looks pretty good! I get how it won't be to everybody's taste, but the fundamentals of it being a good building are there. The forms and angles are interesting, the ground level has a great amount of transparency and openness that will help activate the street, and the...

    Calgary | Harrison | 20.42m | 5s | Sarina Homes

The wall is quite a negative change. Overall I like what they did with the balconies by removing the opaque wood-like material from the front.

    Calgary | The Victoria on 5th | 19.81m | 6s | Casola Koppe

This turned out pretty acceptable. I like that the first four storeys don't show any hardie board easy trim or face fastening. A good quality brick and relief with the balcony insets create a pretty attractive streetscape.
