It would have to do with that—40% vision glass, 60% insulated—but you can make colour choices for the spandrel that blend better with the windows, so as to not be so obvious. You can also choose full height windows so as to not need waist-height mullions all over the place.

It looks awful! The worst part is that the black frames will not be strong enough to distract from the window wall. And to think this building had so much promise.

Unfortunately, it falls to the designers to make the decision on material honesty- are they going to design a building that follows through on the archetypes of a glass building, or are they going to make a building that pretends to?

It's very possible to create attractive, affordable and modern architecture that doesn't pretend that spandrel is vision glass. Spandrel works - and it works best when it's designed to be understood as spandrel.

And even on pretending- you'd think that after 300 Front St, Wallman would have learnt that white spandrel looks awful.
