There's an interesting interview in the Herald with the CEO of Co-op. He addresses some of the redevelopment plans. It sounds like there's a lot of negotiating left to do regarding the Brentwood and Dalhousie redevelopments, but that another one in Oakridge is more likely to progress sooner. The project is being called Oakridge Crossing. I snagged some renders from their site. Certainly not as flashy as the Brentwood proposal especially, but decent enough. Especially for the burbs. A rough count looks like 12 and 13 stories for the taller towers. Unsurprisingly, this is another project from the Quarry Bay partnership.

Here's what the site looks like on Maps. They plan according to the site will be to build the new building on the west end of the parking lot, then tear down the Eastern half of the main block and build new grocery store. Then in phase 3, tear down the old grocery store of the large condo block and finally the tower in the NE corner. I guess we'll see how it all goes down.

A dedicated thread to the Oakridge Crossing proposal. Similar to the Dalhousie proposal.

That is just awful. I hope it doesn't go ahead. The current usage is awful as well but, the potential is there for something better. That goes away once you build those highrises and lowrises

I agree. They're essentially just slapping a couple high-rises down onto a strip mall. No attempt whatsoever to redesign the layout/urban form. The least they could do is demolish the liquor store and transform that pedestrian deathtrap of a driveway into a proper intersection, and build an actual street connecting Southland to Oakmoor to break up the block. Build the condos fronting the new street with parking in behind.

Seriously, though, that driveway off Southland needs to go! Check it out on Google Streetview if you want to see what I mean by "pedestrian deathtrap".

That intersection is terrible. I can't imagine how that got through the design stage, and actually got built!

As for the whole project....not very good. One can't even say that the density addition is good, as it adds density in a bad way IMO.
