spoiler alert ... no this has nothing to do with Cresford's CASA series on Charles Street ;)

This is a pretty significantly sized masterplan development containing by Medallion Properties containing almost 1,500 rental units in 9 or 10 buildings located southeast of Weston Road and Finch Avenue, tallest being 28 storeys; an urbanization project for the Emery Village area designed by Page+Steele / IBI Group that redevelops the former Weston-Finch mall which has been in the works since 2003. Given this project is out of the core, it is no surprise it hasn't received any attention here on UT. Interesting to note the central square/piazza proposed in this plan.

City Planning Final Staff Report approving the project from October 2005:

First phase with two 10-storey towers (Bldgs F+H) are now largely topped off.

Construction progress as of June 2015 per Streetview:

Overall Masterplan:

Phase 1:

Future Phase - looks promising

2015.09.04 update

The building is turning out to be pretty decent looking so far, it should help kick start the urbanization and revitalization of the Emery Village area.

South tower completed - the 10s bldg appear to be 12s from Weston Rd due to the big drop in grading, the concrete portion is actually below grade relative to the site

North tower on level 7

Some sort of amenity link between the 2 bldgs

Some nice facades here with real brick and punched out windows and little spandrel

Not quite sure what is being built to the south here

You're right Solaris, because this is out of the Downtown, far out, we've pretty much missed it until now. There's another factor regarding this Casa though too, and that is this one is a rental development, which results in very little to no advertising out there before occupancy phase… so if we don't have members in that part of town stopping by to photograph, we'll often miss this kind of development. It's good to know about everything that's going on of course, and I'm personally happy to see reinvestment in our suburbs, and more intensification of them, so thanks for getting us these images Solaris! Much appreciated!

Wow, I had no idea it was this far along.

My dad used to run the Canadian Tire that was here up until the mall was shut down. The area was incredibly sketchy, so hopefully this redevelopment is the start of this area turning around.

Indeed ... I was too surprised by the construction progress on this project

I actually didn't know what was going on this site was until I saw all the buildings underway when I was in the area, which prompted me to do some research on it. Initially I thought it was just another condo but it turned out to be much larger project than I expected :)

The towers are now visible from quite a distance away. Unfortunately the photos are low quality.

A database for this would have been helpful. I had such a hard time finding the thread that I almost wouldn't have posted this update. While I was trying to find it I also happened to come across another highrise proposal near this same intersection: http://www.condopromo.com/admiral-towers-toronto/

Great to see street level detail included. A surprisingly forward thinking project for this awful area, which will likely be transformed by these buildings in the same way that Dufferin and Lawrence has by Treviso. Too bad the architecture couldn't have been better, but this is standard outside downtown.

Must be the next phase?

Yes, the Preliminary Report for the second phase (with two more towers) is going to Community Council on April 5.

I wonder when construction starts on the third building of phase one, and when Medallion will update their web page for the first two buildings? No active marketing yet.

wow very nice, delighted that the 3rd triangular shaped Bldg 'I' got built as per concept (rather than just a placeholder) ... love that building form, flat-iron like structure in a part of the city one would never expect ... overall I was very impressed in person with how the project turned out to date :)
