What an absolutely beautiful city. We lucked out with unseasonably warm weather last weekend and loved every minute of our first trip to Chicago. I look forward to going again. If you've never been and you love buildings and urbanism... go. And absolutely take Porter. What a quick and seamless trip from the Toronto Island to downtown Chicago.

Walking around Chicago, there were many times that I said, "Why can't Toronto do this?" and "Why can't Toronto do that?" but I won't bother with that debate here. I just hope that tourists to Toronto walk away with even a fraction of the experience I had as a tourist in Chicago.

About 150 photos split into three threads. This first begins now. Enjoy.

Chicago: Our Kind of Town!!!

Casaguy: Good pics from Chicago-in the first section capturing many famaliar Downtown buildings quite well! I will chime in on these pics as time allows
in the coming weeks.

Your section should have Frank Sinatra singing "My Kind of Town-Chicago"
in the background-I thought of it looking at these pics...LI MIKE

CG: As I mentioned I would mention the pics you took of Chicago-lots of good building pics taken Downtown like these:
2-Marina Towers - a 1960s classic of urban residency built back in the days
of prime exodus to the Suburbs.
3 to 6-The new Trump Tower-built on the site of the old low-rise Sun Times
Building. I like the monument to Washington in pic #3 in front below.
7-N.Wabash bridge opening-I recall how interesting it was watching them open when it was needed-especially those with the L structures above(W.Lake
and N.Wells)and they are famous there on the Chicago River.
31-Merchandise Mart-at one time one of the largest building in terms of office
space in the World. What is that building to its right?
39,40,44,45,48-The Sears Tower standing proudly with some of its new tall
neighbors-these pics are really good and some of the weather looked perfect! I will NOT refer to it as the Willis Tower in my posts.
50-W.Adams Street bridge-Did that lady know you? If not she was single-handedly welcoming YOU to Chicago!
Insight from LI MIKE
