Looks like the old Dominion Hotel on Whyte is about to get a bit of a makeover, including a brand new alley-facing frontage. Courtesy of - you guessed it - Beljan Developments. That entire laneway is turning into something else and I couldn't be happier.

Anyone know what happened with this project? I see the thread says there were upgrades in 2019 and 2020. Did the back get renovated, and is the space activated in the alley?
Renovations were completed about 2 years ago. The back has retail space onto the alley as depicted on the rendering. We're working with a group that is interested in that bay which was demised in half by Kit&Ace (fronting Whyte).

How is it that your firm seems to be one of the only ones consistently scooping up marquee buildings and doing amazing transformations/rehabilitations? You really deserve kudos for making money at something that not many other developers seem interested in doing!

Well, it's mainly passion. And given that we've completed a number of adaptive reuse projects on heritage buildings many of these properties are either presented to us off market or by brokers who contact us before they go public.
