Don't think the P3 is the issue, the citys choice of contractor was, looks like the city chose a better contractor this time, remember the Walterdale wasn't a P3, the city chose a bad contractor

No kidding, and not even 100 occupied housing units, image trudging thru the fields to and from the stations in the winter 😨

That station is not just servicing Blatchford. It will also serve the Westwood neighbourhood to the east.

And I don't really mind nothing being around it for now. How many times have thousands of homes or apartment units been built before rapid transit arrived? This way habits of taking the LRT will develop with the community

I wonder if the stations being operational will mean development in those areas close will occur next, versus nearer airport road.

I don't doubt that development will ramp up around both Blatchford stations sooner than later.

NAIT has said the next building they build will be student housing. They had targeted starting in the next few years, but, of course, that was before Covid...

Doesn't have to be. Look at South Campus. It's built almost in the middle of nowhere but is so well-used because of all the bus connections (in fact, that drives ridership at a lot of stations). If they did that for Blatchford Gate, it should be fine.

Blatchford Gate may be empty when it first opens, but give it another few years when there are at least hundreds of Blatchford residents.
I encourage Edmontonians to cast aside their usual shortsightedness and consider its future potential.

Blatchford would probably be a popular staging point for St. Albert, Spruce Grove and other NW routes.

When you consider the additional cost of extending the line in a green field situation and the installation of the utilities at the same time for future development it was a no brainer to put in Blatchford Gate.
