In the top frame the building behind the new one is so much more powerful architecturally speaking and it is 4 decades older than this new effort. Come on guys -- put more moil in!

It's not aimed at 'O -- it is just an observation that (maybe) bears repeating and should be taken into consideration by Westrich. You know the meme about the word "assume"

I'll take rather generic architecture when gravel parking lots and empty commercial buildings are the norm.

This place will be people's homes. Many people would be grateful to live in a place that looks like the renderings. Let's focus on the positives here.

There are developers that deserve criticism, but it's hard for me to go after the ones that are building new housing in my neighbourhood when others are overseeing empty lots and concrete dumps.

Exactly, empty lots, old commercial buildings plus a funeral home across the street that needs to go to a better place ...

OK you've convinced me... let's learn to be happy with crap, redundant architecture -- at least a half step up from vacant lots and old buildings. No more complaining re Edmonton being a desert for quality architecture. I guess the "good enough for Edmonton" meme has a lot of followers.

Hot take but I agree with Archited - this is a mailed in design and we should expect much higher quality in the core, especially given the projects that are occurring a stone's throw away here.

Definitely some value engineering lol but it could end up looking alright (or at the very least, semi-interesting in a bad kinda way) - Happy for mid-rises in our core but we'll look back at these boring designs in 20 years and think wtf were we doing. However, the brick facade does help!

EDIT: The 4th building also looks pretty cool imo
