Bizarre that the City is treating Churchill Stop (on the Valley line) as a separate "station" from Churchill LRT station on the Metro/Capital lines. Why wouldn't you just integrate the two, isn't that the purpose of the connector building? It is all one big interchange station, not a station with a stop on top.
What you are saying should have obviously occurred to them ... It IS the same place and clearly a connector HUB for 3 LRT lines!! the only one we have in Edmonton. What is wrong with the management at ETS - are they that fricken stupid they cant get that?

Edmonton has a chance to promote the Churchill station as a hub for LRT north, south, east and eventually west. As well, the Arts District, City Centre Library, City Hall and many other destinations are a short walk away. Let's make the most of this opportunity instead of treating Churchill Station as "just another stop".

Makes you wonder what the hell they screwed up the first time rail grinding if they are going back and doing it again.
Who said anything about anyone screwing up? General rail grinding and “surveying and fine-tuning” are two different things for two different purposes.

The first run of rail grinding was done to remove any defects/residue/weld marks from the construction process and to result in a smoother, more uniform rail surface so trains run quieter and more smoothly.

The surveying and fine-tuning process is much more in-depth using specialized measurement and adjustment equipment which optimizes train movement and ride comfort. This adjustment process adjusts the rails with methods besides just grinding the rails. You can’t do this step until you do the first.

I spotted this sign in Churchill Station.

This sign seems problematic for visitors.

It is a bit bizarre, but I think there is some rigid bureaucratic thinking going on that focuses on the size of location on the line, as if it is the primary thing users care or focus about. Of course, it is not. Yes, Churchill Square - Valley Line (my preferred term for now) is part of Churchill station, and the better it is integrated with it, the better it will work.

Maybe some of our city bureaucrats have not been to bigger cities with multiple lines intersecting at one station, so perhaps this is a learning experience for them.

Cat, First Street is the original name. Nothing wrong with that.

"Mayor William Short and city council decided to act unilaterally and without public consultation, introducing the numbered street system that we use today. Jasper Avenue and First Street became 101st Avenue and 101st Street, anticipating the growth of the city and imposing a rigid structure on its roads."
