I was walking into the Sheraton Centre earlier today and noticed the wall art hidden behind the walls between the municpal parking lot and the hotel.

Thought I would share and ask it it had anything to do with the hotel or if it is was merely decorative?

It sure looks like they had fun in those days. My mother was born on the Toronto Islands and my grandfather was a captain of the fire department. There were lots of stories about growing up around downtown Toronto - the Palais Royal, Sunnyside, Cherry Beach, and of course, the Islands.

A unique view of Toronto Harbour in 1975, looking west from Leslie St. to the Island Airport. No evidence yet of the DVP (1961) and the "Port Lands" reveal scattered industry, petroleum storage tanks and the Richard L. Hearn Generating Station. The beaches at Cherry St., Ward's & Centre Island are clearly visible.

James Matthews had a soda water place on the southern portions of Dovercourt Road, near Queen in the early 1880s. He was not in the business in 1873, so that's a new wagon for a new business.
James Matthews could have been bottling with his dad William who was bottling in Toronto since 1861. James and 2 brothers Alexander and Francis were bottlers like there dad.
