Several square blocks. Old, very old, but vibrant enough. Reminds me of Toronto's Elizabeth Street Chinatown before its decampment to Spadina Avenue. But with a tropical flavor. Only 3 blocks away from the historic passenger line piers of Honolulu, this Chinatown is fondly remembered by a diminishing group of immigrant Chinese who came to the USA and Canada on - get this kiddies - ships [it was a stopover].

The 'Wo Fat' sign inspired the name of the villain in the original Hawaii Five-O series.

Mustapha, Did you shoot these on a recent trip to Hawaii?

Great pics, I was there a month before you. They were shooting Hawaii Five-O across the street from Scratch Kitchen as I was waiting for my table.

cool. how was it compared to ours?

Toronto's Chinatown is far more diverse - ours have restaurants and other business run by many parts of China, (Sichuan, Yunan, Shandong, etc) and of different generations (old and new), not just the Cantonese community from 1970s.

Hi. I will say that Honolulu's Chinatown has at least two public squares. Lots of people gathered there talking and playing cards on the Sunday that I took these pics. I wish our Chinatown(s) had something like that. It's almost a Thai/Viet/Pilipino town too. Lots of voices from those regions heard on the streets.
