ONGOING CONSTRUCTION:

In addition to Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) and the excavation of test pits used to map existing utility locations in Cooksville, you may have already noticed that the remaining medians are being removed at intersections where existing traffic signals are currently being replaced with temporary traffic signals. These works are paving the way for utility relocations and the construction of the elevated guideway scheduled to begin in the second and third quarters of this year.

  • Cooksville GO Station:
Businesses and residents in the Cooksville GO area may notice construction materials and equipment being stored at Cooksville GO parking lots on the east and west side of Hurontario. These areas will be restricted to construction crews.

  • Temporary Signals
In work that has continued through January and February, traffic signals are being replaced with temporary signals at the following four intersections along Hurontario in Mississauga Centre:

  • Square One Drive
  • Kingsbridge Garden Circle/Elia Avenue
  • Market Place/30 Eglinton Ave
  • Hammerson Drive/Rathburn Road West
While crews will use the boulevard to avoid lane closures, there may be temporary right lane closures for up to four hours to accommodate the work.

    Traction Power Substations (TPSS)
Soil resistivity testing will also occur at select locations of future Traction Power Substations (TPSS) later this month. This is done to gather information on how much the soil resists or conducts electric current and will contribute to the design of the electrical grounding systems for the TPSS that will help power the LRVs.

SAFETY

Safety is our number one priority and a shared responsibility. Please note and follow construction signage as you walk, cycle or drive along Hurontario Street. I raised this at our last meeting and was told the contract was sign and will remain as is regardless of safety issues or Brampton wants it where it was supposed to be.

The more I raise issues, more they get piss off at me, but you are talking to an ML wall in the first place.

There been a flipping of things from our first meeting last year where the contractor is not calling the shots anymore on them.
So is the city involved in this decision or not?

So is the city involved in this decision or not?
Brampton wants the stop relocated at Steeles, but neither cities have a real say how the line is being built. ML is saying no at this time which is pure dumb.

Both cities only exist because of the government and they can changes things that they and others will have next to no say until the next election. When Metro Toronto was form, TTC cease to exist until some back door moves were made so it would exist.

Just out of curiosity. They removed the left turn lanes in and out of the carpool lot at 401/Hurontario, but you can still drive across Hurontario into the lot from off 401 WB off ramp. Any reason why?

Cooksville GO passengers: Starting Wednesday, March 10, there will be changes to station parking due to construction related to the Hurontario Light Rail Transit (LRT) project.
- The parking lot, on the east side of Hurontario Street, just south of the tracks, will be closed so we can store construction materials.
- The parking lot on the west side of Hurontario Street, just south of the tracks, remains closed for construction.
- There is still plenty of parking available for you at the station.
Please give yourself extra time to get to the station during construction. Please follow signs and be careful around construction equipment and fenced off areas until this work is complete. We will provide you with updates in advance of any future changes at your station.
For more information on changes at your station, please visit the Cooksville GO Improvements page.
With the new 18-kilometre Hurontario LRT, communities across Mississauga and Brampton will find better, more convenient ways in which to live, work and play. The Hurontario LRT will connect the Milton and Lakeshore West GO lines, along with local transit links like MiWay, Brampton Transit, Züm, and Mississauga Transitway at Square One. With 19 stops and its own dedicated lane, the Hurontario LRT ensures a smooth, fast, convenient ride between Mississauga and Brampton without the annoying traffic.

Is this why we built the garage mahal there? To get laydown space for LRT install?
Partially, maybe, however I do believe the long term concept for Cooksville station was to construct residential towers in the area of the surface parking lot. Taking up surface parking for the proposed residential towers necessitated the need to move some of the parking capacity to a parking garage.

Don't have a photo of it but I noticed on Saturday that the temporary traffic signals have been installed south of the QEW. Glad I only go to the office on weekends and off hours now!

^ I'm not surprised some in Brampton want it, given there's a tunnel coming for Eglinton West and the SSE. One could argue, yeah but Brampton's different and doesn't have the Etobicoke/Scarborough local political clout with the Province/Feds to get it. True, but some in Brampton will still try to argue they deserve and and it's for reasons of fairness they should get it if it's coming to certain other areas. Not suggesting I agree with the tunnel. just want will likely be said in 2021 as the issue comes up a future Council meeting(s)/public meeting(s).

Can you elaborate? 😲
Toronto Transportation Commission (TTC) existed from 1921 until 1954. Basically, provided public transit for the City of Toronto, with some routes beyond the borders of the old city.
