Une candidate de Projet Montréal propose une nouvelle ligne de métro

The line is part of an overall plan for public transit that Plante is proposing and would be built after extensions already proposed for the Blue Line, to Anjou, and the Orange Line to Bois Franc.

It would be 10 or 12 stations starting at the Bonaventure station, cutting through the McGill Ghetto, Plateau-Mont-Royal, Rosemont, St-Michel and ending in Montreal North. The line would serve a densely populated part of the city, and also serve as a relief line, reducing overcrowding on the Orange and Green lines, as it would link with the McGill, Mont-Royal and Pie-IX stations.

Plante has no doubt such a project would be very costly. A five-kilometre extension of the Blue Line to Anjou would cost about $3 billion, according to a study submitted to the Transport Minister by the Agence métropolitaine de transport last year. Plante estimates her Pink Line could cost about $6 billion, but she said Montrealers should not be afraid of that price tag.

“I’m ready to fight for this Pink Line,” she said. “It is doable and it will cost money, but we haven’t invested in the subway in Montreal in 30 years. When you look at other big cities, Paris is building 68 new stations, and Toronto is building a new relief line for its subway.”

Looks like Montréal's version of the Relief Line. Hopefully it won't take a 100 years to build, like Toronto's counterpart.
