The Star just wanted Ford out, period.
You say that as though it were a bad thing. Anybody with a ounce of pride in our City wanted Ford out - he was a total embarrassment to himself and those who live here, we were the laughing-stock of the world - and you can bet that if any other paper had had the info it would have been printed there first.

Except for the propaganda wing of the Conservatives, the Toronto Sun and Postmedia... maybe.

After the lunacy of Ford, Tory was exactly what Toronto needed. He was not a great mayor but neither a bad one. He brought a sense of decorum back to City Hall, was a consensus builder, offered a steady hand, a reasonable person who was not strongly ideological one way or the other, and genuinely cared about the city and her citizens.

Tory was the mayor Toronto desperately need in 2014 but he is not the mayor the city needs in 2023.

When you consider the complete disarray that was City Hall in 2014, yes Tory brought back a sense of decorum. Tory had an affair and did the right thing by stepping down. Ford used crack and didn't even see the problem.

Tory got in on a big lie: SmartTrack, and the support of a lot of Conservatives and Liberals. Sure he brought decorum, but that wasn’t enough for the needs of 2014 Toronto, never mind 2022-2023.

SmartTrack could, and would be completed in only 7 years! I sure have been enjoying all those convenient new stops peppered throughout the city since they opened back in 2021 right on schedule!

Not sure who actually voted for him based on SmartTrack, but I guess it sold better than "more busses for grandma" Chow.
