last weekend was the twice-a-summer main madness street fair on st-laurent boulevard. for one mile, from sherbrooke street to mont-royal avenue, the main was closed from thursday morning to sunday night. businesses along the street slashed prices and brought out their wares to the street (including some of the upper-floor wholesalers and garment distributors who aren't normally open to the public), restos, bars and cafes spill out into the middle of the road, there's live music and everybody has a lot of fun. the june edition of main madness also coincides with the fringe festival which adds yet another dimension to the festivities.
this year, except for sunday, the weather sucked, so that the usual live outdoor art projects and DJs were not present.
THURSDAY
catching a show at the fringe: the lovely feathers.
ten minutes at the corner of sherbrooke and the main
this is the pine-park interchange, which -- as you might remember from an earlier thread -- is in the process of being demolished.
stay tuned for parts two and three, when the weather warms up and the crowds grow thicker...
