Likewise. If Williams is going to be changing this section of the MGA, just change the subclassing to include all property types, not just type 1 (residential).

I don't think this one is distraction. This is part of the push to make institutions unuseable, driving the public into the eager arms of private services.
 
Attended the Chamber's candidate meet and greet. Nothing earth-shattering.

I will say that I met Ron Billingsley, and he was nowhere near as insane as he was during the Edmonton Centre debate.

Ronald S. Billingsley, who showed up in a white cowboy hat, dark sunglasses and carrying a bottle of Bombay Sapphire gin, was there. The independent candidate called for a trilingual super-country created through the union of Canada, the United States and Mexico. He also called for all school teachers to be armed. And he read his closing statement with Eminem blasting out of his phone as accompaniment.

Nearly every candidate was saying the same couple lines, "lower property taxes" and "better communication with the City".
 
Let's just say that Ron Billingsley is not playing with a full orchestra. Any vote for him is a wasted vote.

"Not as insane as when he ran for MP" and "Deserves your vote" are very different things. Any vote outside the core 3 mayoral candidates is functionally no vote at all.

I took the survey. Results show Anne Stevenson as my best candidate for O-day'min. However, this survey must be on meth because I find it hard to believe that Ron Billingsley is my best choice for Mayor! For the mayoral candidates that matter, Andrew Knack has a slight edge over Michael Walters in my survey results.
 
My survey had Michael Walters in the lead followed by Utha Nadauk -- but no one got above 50% (which doesn't surprise me because I view the entire field as weak in terms of Mayoral candidates)

He may have toned it down some and if so good for him. However personally, I don't feel being mayor should be an entry level position. So I would only seriously consider people with some experience in government, which includes these three candidates plus a couple of others.

Knack is still my guy but I’ve got to admit, Michael Walters’ policy plans are certainly more exciting and ambitious than anything Knack has put out. It’s probably more a testament to the honesty that Knack has, keeping his campaign goals within scope and reasonably achievable… But still… Some highlights from Walter’s plan for arts/culture, released yesterday:

  • Make Whyte Ave feel like Fringe every summer weekend in a 2026 pilot by closing 82nd Avenue to traffic for two blocks, between Gateway Boulevard (103rd street) and 105th Street
  • Roll out a Main Street Accelerator program to fill vacant storefronts with live music venues, entrepreneurs, startups, and cultural spaces, using incentives and quick-lease models
  • Appoint a Music Industry Development Officer, following the lead of other music cities by hiring an industry liaison to coordinate music sector development, with initiatives that will breathe new life into main streets
