Well, I found another excuse to visit NYC again... this time the Tool concert at Nassau Coliseum (it was awesome!). What can I say? I have a problem... but at least I admit it. I know I just did some NYC threads recently and there's probably some repetition, but watcha gonna do?

Part I of my phototour is the neat and tidy side of NYC... the safe touristy stuff.

Stay tuned for Part II: The Grit, and future threads of Boston and of MTA videos (for the transit nerds out there).

I took the ultracheap Chinatown bus from Boston to New York. Service with a smile... well, not really. The autumn New England countryside was very pretty.

Some pretty views along the way... too bad about the dirty windows.

There was a quaint outdoor market around 79th and Central Park West featuring local artists and designers. I couldn't afford a damn thing.

These are fantastic! New York is just crazy dense.
It's such an unbelievable city. Thanks for sharing!

Gotta love NYC.

Ha Ha. I'll take anal bum cover for 200 Alex!

These look very new. The ice rink at Rockefeller just opened last weekend I think.

Amazing city- excellent pics. The one of Manhattan and the cemetary reminds me of the movie Gangs of New York.

It reminds me of the beginning of Cruel Intentions.

Thanks, thanks and thanks.

One cannot say enough good things about New York F**king City (a t-shirt slogan I saw on Canal Street).

My favourite T-Shirt slogan was.
"Welcome to New York.
No go the F*CK home!"

It often makes me wonder ....what if....geography/topography had been different to us here in Toronto......Two large waterways limiting our core city such as the Hudson and East Rivers......I wonder whether Toronto would be more dense and how it might have looked....i.e. building less two story structures, no gas stations, surface parking lots gone....any thoughts?

I think so. We probably would have looked a bit more Montreal-ish in some ways with many 3-4 floor walk-ups and such.

^ Age matters too. New York and Montreal are several hundred years old. Toronto was just a twinkle in Simcoe's eye back then. This is NYC in the 1930s.

I just wonder what the city would've been like if we had left many of our old structures and streets intact (like Toronto Street).

"It reminds me of the beginning of Cruel Intentions."

It reminds me of the beginning of Panic Room, just without JODIE FOSTER hovering around the tenth floor.
