Get ready for tonnes o' Montreal pics I've been accumulating since the start of autumn. We'll start with my new hood, Westmount, and my new pad:

Next, we'll wander in and around the central portion of Sherbrooke St - lined with high end boutiques and stately old apartments.

The next batch are evening/night shots from around the city. The first one is of the "haunted" Allan Memorial Institute, my other home away from home.

My favourite mall in the city. Yes, I like a mall... shoot me.

And finally, just a few random leftover downtown pics... including the first one of a freak snowstorm we had last month. It was scary. I thought winter had arrived already. The weather has been pretty decent recently... we haven't dipped below zero yet.

Hope you enjoyed... more to come!

Really great shots of a great city.

^ Please don't repeat this to any locals.

Excellent pics! I love how Montreal has most of the hydro wires buried throughout the city - much less of a cluttered look, and it makes the city appear more grown-up.

And a nice lit-up skyline! (Thanks to cheap Hydro-Quebec juice)

Glad to see you getting all your photos online! Great pics.

Great photos. I especially like the night shots!
I had no idea you moved to MTL, what brought you there, if I may ask? A job offer I guess?
Glad your winter has been decent so far. Right now, it's 15 degrees and cloudy here in Holland, I don't believe the winter will ever come, with temperatures like this in the end of November...

Ganjavih: I also didn't know you had moved to Montreal. I'll look forward to pictures! These are some good shots; I recognize the locations of quite a few of them. Montreal is a fascinating place in so many ways.

I miss Christopher DeWolf and the "street life" shots he used to post from Montreal. (Christopher: If you're reading, please come back!)

Ganja,

Great pics!

So you're a Westmount boy now! When I was still living in Westmount way back, it used to have the worst snow removal in the winter. Odd, considering that it is probably the wealthiest part of Montreal.

I dunno... I just couldn't resist the low pay, high taxes and backwards politics.

I'm dreading the coming of winter. I bought a heavy wool Russian Army coat that weighs about 200 pounds (it actually broke my coat rack)... I hope I'm prepared.

broke the coat rack?

take a pic of it, I've got to see this ;)

bravo bravo Sir Ganj.

Re: broke the coat rack?

wow, you're living in montreal now? welcome to the island. now you're stuck. muhahahaha.

i'm here -- i'm just unable to post my photothreads because the server keeps timing out. i'll try again but i think it's a problem with ezboard.

Re: broke the coat rack?

Lovely, and I'll say again:

The Toronto vs Montreal bullshit is just that.
Canadians should be fortunate to have these two fantastic cities in their country.

Re: broke the coat rack?

Amazing shots. Especially the night ones

Re: broke the coat rack?

Beautiful shots, they make me a tad homesick for Mtl. The winters are definitely cold and usually get a lot of snow, I hardly ever wear my old winter coat here in TO. But the city looks really nice after a snowfall- especially with all those decorations around the holiday season.

Downtown Mtl does have more of a mature look than TO- the old buildings i guess. I never noticed the absence of hydro lines when i was there, but I definitely do now.

Like the skyline shots. You can get a really good view of the city from St. Helene's Island as well.

Those are just superbs. Hope there are more coming! Thanks.

Lovely pictures. Montreal definately looks smart and put-together. I found this in Vancouver too.
