That section may have been closed due to the power work.

Yes.

ETA By "general parking area", I meant Official parking for city staff and vehicles only.

Public parking is in another area. The Reserved area is for the mayor, councillors and senior staff.

Pre-dawn raids in Canada and the U.S. ended in 24 arrests over an alleged drug running operation that took pot to the States and brought cocaine back to Canada.

Charged in Ontario are: *Sarhad Sadiq, 28

Toronto Mythologies

Hanlan23.jpg

For some reason, I was just dreaming about Ned Hanlan, *another* great Torontonian....

Cleaning out an old drawer, I found this here old photo.
Isn’t that Drug Smith Sr, out on a mission to deliver some cracks to City Hall?

Ned Hanlan had great leg strength too. Almost as strong as Drug Jr's industrial strength bullshit.

Ned Hanlan vs RoFo & DoFo

At only 150 pounds himself, world champion rower Ned Hanlan probably didn't leg press 1200 pounds.

Yet Ned Hanlan became councillor for Ward 4 in 1898.

It's hard to believe the contrast between then (Hanlan) and now (Fords). Hanlan seems to have had a different kind of clueless from RoFo n DoFo. It's striking, in spite of all the years in between them.

"At virtually every meeting of council he proposed improvements, calling for electrification and bicycle paths on the Island, special lanes for bicycles in the city, better streetcar service, a new public library, and public swimming-pools. While he obtained some of these benefits he seemed oblivious to the niceties of municipal logrolling or the power of interest groups. He publicly condemned the harbour trust, on which he sat, for its contribution to lake sewage and the neglect of breakwaters. Moreover, he advocated public ownership of the profitable ferry service managed by his brother-in-law Lawrence Solman."

WTF? :( Picture that in city council today, if you can.

For a guy that's supposed to be in Bala (ish) he sure is spending a lot of time at least 45 mins from there (Huntsville, Friday, is even further add a half hour) and there is a lot of living you could do in Bala, or Port, or Gravenhurst or, or... way closer. If he has a "handler" (that'd be local or at least local familiar) surely he'd turn up in pics once or twice closer...

If you don't know who Ned Hanlan is, start by viewing the 1986 movie The Boy in Blue, starring some unknown actor named Nicolas Cage.

It sure does look and smell bad doesn't it? (And I'm still way curious to know if it was McRob at Crabby Joe's. If so, that's way effed up.) Yeah I know YMMV, but when you do Ford math, that's a lotta Muskoka driving. Sober or drunk.

Earlier on this thread, somebody said RoFo and DoFo weren't even right wing, just chicken wing.

Either way, in front of the public or the media, both are just wingin' it.

That is fantastic! Thank you. I now know what I'm watching on my VHS instead of a 'Sunday Night at 9' re-run.

I did not know about that movie. (at my age, I probably should) so props 2 ya Lis!

The woman in the one pic by the bar was shown a pic of McRobb and said it was definitely her. (I have no idea how many pages back that was mentioned, but there is a link to that story upthread)
