St. Jacob's is located an hour and a half northwest of Toronto. It has a very vibrant farmers' marke. Local delicacies include maple syrup and summer sausage sold by Mennonite farmers with their horse-drawn buggies. There is also a lot of produce since it is near the end of summer.

While farmers' markets are not particularly new in North America, this one reminded me of Hong Kong's wet markets, only the fruits and vegetables are scattered more in these farmers' markets. Nevertheless, they form a very colorful maze.

Tomatoes are quite easy to grow. I've grown them before and the plants don't attract bugs.

In my previous part about fruit-picking in Niagara region, I mentioned that there weren't any peaches left to pick that day. Well ... they're still available at the farmers' market!

Wow, what a cool looking market... I'll have to check it out some time.

Is St Jacobs a Mennonite community? If not are there any in the surrounding areas? Cause I'm interested in visiting.

St. Jacobs is a Mennonite community. It's located north of Waterloo, and one can travel there by Grand River Transit.

It's neat, but I wouldn't say it's particularly amazing. Apprently there is one in downtown Kitchener (at King and Queen) that it is very good. I'll be checking it out this fall.

Hamilton and Fergus both have Farmers markets as well.

The Fergus one is worth a visit.
