St. Jacob's is located an hour and a half northwest of Toronto. It has a very vibrant farmers' marke. Local delicacies include maple syrup and summer sausage sold by Mennonite farmers with their horse-drawn buggies. There is also a lot of produce since it is near the end of summer.
While farmers' markets are not particularly new in North America, this one reminded me of Hong Kong's wet markets, only the fruits and vegetables are scattered more in these farmers' markets. Nevertheless, they form a very colorful maze.
Very interesting-coloured corn :
Plenty of vegetables for a healthy diet :
The green seedless grapes are only 99 cents a pound!
I thought strawberry season is over!
Apple season will begin shortly and peak when Fall arrives :
Tomatoes are quite easy to grow. I've grown them before and the plants don't attract bugs.
In my previous part about fruit-picking in Niagara region, I mentioned that there weren't any peaches left to pick that day. Well ... they're still available at the farmers' market!
