I'd like to hope that this is the real excavation but I have been misled in the past. In the early summer I stood (while on break from work) and watched with unabashed glee as a large portion of the north-west corner of Uptown/Blu Crystal Blown was excavated (6m+). Later, I found pictures posted on UT which showed that the site had been filled in. A subsequent visit to the site confirmed my deepest fears. Alas, it was true the hole had been filled and the site was once again a segregated pasture.

I wish I could get excited about this digging, I really do. I'm just fearful this is a bit like the 'non-nude' models, who are more attractive than regular ol' porn stars, and make you pay 19.95$ a minute to browse their sites in search of a little true satisfaction.

In short, its a tease.

The above photo of the excavation has me perplexed. Surely, that cannot be the National Club foundations, right? It's concrete and I assume that the National Club would be stone/brick or block? Or is it the foundation for the old Woolco building?

I was about to ask the same thing. That concrete looks relatively new (probably due to being buried), but it doesn't look like it belongs to the National Club.

Anyone know?

Maybe it was for reinforcement for the building beside it to support the weight of all the cars on the parking lot that was there?

Just a blind guess....

Indeed. I can't believe Adelaide is going to be open whilst these two monsters rise. Geekaroo, your office is in a lucky location!

It is very cool to be across the street from this location. of course, in a few short weeks, BA will be higher than our uppermost floor, so I'll be outside in the snow for pictures. I have a few more months before TTT passes us by. Then of course, the view from our building is completely gone :-(

I wonder when the crane will be installed....April?

I would be interested to know how they build this too...b/c the space is petite. Then again, in NYC it's probably common...the Trump empire has experience!
