wish they put stores on the bottom portion on both the east and west sides versus all being on the west... makes it even more difficult. just put the parking behind the stores... why is that so difficult. I was at heartland yesterday waiting for a oil change. And I wanted to walk to winners and best buy. So I have to walk across the Canadian tire lot, across the winners lot into the winners... then out the winners lot across the best buy lot into best buy. And finally back across the best buy lot across the Canadian tire lot to pick up my car .

I grew up just behind Heartland (the subdivision behind Mercedes Benz) and rarely ever walked to it for that reason. It made no sense to walk there when the distances between stores were so great, and divided by massive parking lots.

Ah, Heartland... I remember my mom dragging me there and me wanting to walk over to Krispy Kreme while she was doing her shopping. That was the day I came to the realization how awful big box retail is

This sounds like a parody of stores that don't understand what patrons want.

That is one fun grocery store.

It has what many grocery stores don't have: a place to park whiny children.

It's the best of suburbia in my opinion. There's more space than many an urban grocery store, and they make good use of it by selling a wide variety of foods under one roof. Their prepared foods section and fish market with live seafood are a step above many local grocery stores. But unlike in suburbia, you can step off the streetcar and walk right in.

Interesting, some friends were talking about this place today, apparently it has lots of good hard to find import stuff. If there is milkis it has my approval.

I go there for two hard to find items in Toronto ; Bubble Tea and Green Tea KitKats. I also love having the playground and arcade, but spolier alert, it is very expensive in general.

Don't forget grass jelly.

Pretty close to 1-year later and the Nations Experience supermarket has contributed greatly to the overall Stockyards Village. For what it is, I find the area to be gradually further maturing. Pedestrian flow on weekends has become quite lively all around the shopping centre and retail tenancy holding steadily.

Yep, I have noticed this on my visits to Nations. The village has been a lot more of lively place since last November when Nations first opened. I think the fact that the lack of an Asian Supermarket in the western part of Toronto is lacking is one of the main reasons Nations is doing so well. When Nations opened in Jackson Square in Hamilton in 2013, something similar happened, as it made Jackson Square a busy place again. Same here. The rest of the plaza is also now a busy place.

Nations has done a good job drawing in non-Asian shoppers too as the Stockyards area does lack a substantial supermarket. The hot/prepared foods section seems to be a major draw, along with certain items from their bakery. I must say their diverse grocery selection is impressive too.

Yep, even though their primary customers would be mainly be from one of the Asian cultures, they seem to also cater to the Portuguese community as well. I'm not Asian and I love their selection of Asian snacks and food.

Nations is much cleaner than some Asian grocery stores nearby.

I often wonder why did the Super King Asian grocery store on Lawrence and Black Creek not close down. It looks quite unsanitary.
