The balconies at this well-known rental building have been undergoing a complete refurbishment for several months now. One of the new railings has been installed. Before and after pics (sorry about the quality).

With the glass railings you could really see how ugly the building is, not only that, being a rental building you will also see all the crap people store on their balconies.

It would be cool if the walls of each balcony be painted in a slightly different colour, and the glass frosted or with some kind of frit.

Someday, developers/retrofitters will (re-)heed the wisdom of 60s/70s opaque.

ugh ya. I hate the combo of concrete grey and brown, but transparent balconies are not good. You need to hide that stuff. Regardless of how old the building is.

This kind of fits, kind of doesn't. I lived here for a year in the late 80's on the top floor, this was the city view offered back then. I dug it out of a box a few nights ago, it needs to be cleaned up. Maybe later.

Wow, that is such a huge improvement. It is funny that I haven't seen that with my own eyes. I walk past it but always on the north side of the street several times a week.

Just clean and freshly painted. Drainage appears to be greatly improved though.
