Black mullions might have provided some much-needed contrast with the fins, but Toronto developers seem to be allergic to them.
 
Alright, I'll bite: I think this looks like a shtick, a pale imitation of what you'd see in NYC or somewhere similar.
 
You are right. This just looks like a cheap attempt at something interesting and beautiful....with the end result looking predominantly cheap.
 
With 8 Cumberland next to it (and nearly as tall), the interesting north and south facades will be mostly obscured, unless you're very close to the building
