A site plan application was submitted in 2021 with the following description:

To redevelop with an 8-storey multi-unit residential building, with 77 dwelling units, and a total of 77 parking space (29 at grade and 48 below grade). The existing buildings to be demolished to facilitate the development.

The fencing went up at 1017 Upper James just a block away. It's the old funeral home that is being torn down for another apartment project.
