It was odd seeing this yesterday as I walked to the subway. I guess the black cladding pops here, especially considering the shlock that's gone up to the left...like Social. I'm not impressed by this project but it's a good background building, with decent bones.

Yes, it is a bit odd not to have returned them to what was, I assume, the original standard form.
This appears to have been done in fall 1981 when this pic was dated.

Yea it’s kind of a strange choice, but I bet the light in that space would be really nice with warehouse loft vibes.
Surprised they didn't bother to take out that modern triple width window and re-create the 2 Georgian windows that were surely there originally.
Agreed with you guys but Toronto design always favors the future.
