You have mall parking and GO Station parking. Both are massive parking demand drivers.

It's no wonder traffic is terrible around here.

Towers proposed near busy Steeles Avenue and Kennedy Road intersection

4631 Steeles Ave. E. and 0, 47 and 53 Redlea Ave.
Dec 20, 2019

Steeles Avenue around Kennedy Road is a busy place which always seems like it's getting busier.

Development plans surround on both sides of Steeles, and the Milliken GO Station nearby is currently being remade.

Just the facts:

• A developer is proposing a 10-storey medical building and two condominium towers — 26 and 23-storeys high, joined by a six-storey podium — on four properties on Steeles and along Redlea Avenue.

• Coun. Jim Karygiannis says he’s looking forward to hearing from residents at a community meeting on the proposal in late February or early March.

• Redlea is a short cul-de-sac street, but there are plans to extend Redlea south to Passmore Avenue when owners of the Splendid China mall start their own expansion project.

• The Steeles-Redlea industrial area is south of the properties, and business owners there have expressed concern that having residential development nearby could affect their operations.

One block east of Kennedy, a zoning change that got Scarborough Community Council’s preliminary approval last month could add 500 residences to an already-crowded section of road.
