The Well is a separate zoning amendment and a proposal that includes considerable public amenities. Plus, it treats the heights of the building in a way that respects the historical importance of Wellington Street in that area.

The shortest building in The Well is 15 storeys tall and they are the buildings that face into Wellington St.

How is this 15 storey building any different?
 
This isn't about height stats. It's about appropriate massing and setbacks to not overpower the neighbouring built form. The Well is a large blank site and a lot of thought went into stepping down the massing as the development approaches the existing built forms. This a tall box on a narrow midblock site with coverage from one lot line to another. Jim Pattison would approve. I'm not too fond of tall blank walls on lot lines next to some acceptable older building stock.
