City-initiated (Housing Now) zoning by-law amendment proposing a transit-oriented, mixed use development at 50 Wilson Heights Blvd. The proposed redevelopment of the commuter parking facility is comprised of the following: 73,864 square metres (791,250 square feet) of residential gross floor area, a portion of which would be dedicated to affordable housing; 623 square metres (6,704 square feet) of indoor and outdoor amenity space; 4,260 square metres (45,859 square feet) of office space; 1,867 square metres (20,096 square feet) of community use; and 672 square metres (7,229 square feet) of retail space. On a block by block basis the proposed mixed-use development consists of: Block 1 would contain a 12 storey commercial and residential building; Block 2 would contain two 16-storey and one 14-storey tall buildings connected by a 6-storey podium building; Block 3 would would contain a 7-storey mid-rise residential building; Block 4 would contain a 2-storey community use with an adjacent community green space; 2 levels of underground parking are proposed; and Park - proposal would also contain a 3,070 square metre (0.76 acre) public park. A draft plan of subdivision application will follow in the near future to create the proposed development blocks, the roads and the public park.

it's not specifically outlined but it doesn't seem to be hiding much. Seems to have some support from Sweeny&Co at least in terms of volunteering its time, and a bunch of other city hall policy nuts, not the typical "big bad developers".


Could be wrong though of course.

It's a little over the top, but the message behind it is sound. The city is way under-intensifying these sites, going directly against all the new planning direction coming out of the province in maximizing density around transit stations.
 
0 floors is the limit for the local residents trying to fight this development from even happening. Pasternak had a special working group last week to find out how they can save their precious parking spots.
I can't wait for this parking lot to be closed and something of value put on the site.
 
Why did they use a picture of the parking lot that didn't have the condo buildings to the south of Wilson constructed yet? It's almost like they are trying to pretend that the area isn't already being developed.
 
Area residents are putting together a petition to stop them from building anything ahead of the Sept 16th public meeting on the development.

Those NIMBYs should be thankful that Bombardier is still operational, otherwise the scale on this location would have been much greater.
