There's now a Minor Variance application to increase the tower height by 9.55 metres and the mechanical penthouse by 8 metres, resulting in a 45-storey tower:

While I realize that this is likely purely a massing to receive MV approval only, my god is that bad!

Also: poor Second City. I hope that they can find a new location.
 
With Festival Hall due for replacement and Second City kicked out of their space (I really hope they find something suitable), there won't be as much Entertainment in the Entertainment District anymore.
 
^The "Entertainment District" has been going through a long, slow, and painful death as condos with generic retail spaces at the podium levels have been taking over. In the next 5-10 years, the only entertainment that will be in the area will consist of a movie theater and a couple spaces to watch plays. Asides from that, everything has essentially be forced out of the area through various means. It's a really sad thing to see.
