I was initially quite horrified when I walked by this notice, as I figured the Oaklands gate and gate house were to be wholly demolished. I understand ERA is in charge of their retention, however- it will be interesting to see how this is executed, and what these new Richard Wengle townhouses will look like (errrm). The dismantling of the gates was done very thoughtfully, so I remain optimistic (at least on the heritage side of things).
