Does anyone know why the grass planted on the roof seems to have turned to an odd colour? (eg. not browning as you might expect, but rather a 'paling')

After a good rain about a week, ago the sedum plants decided to flower. The result was a huge sticky mess on our balcony as the flowers blow around like dandelions blowing in the wind. It looks like the picture offered below, but the flowers are more in the grey yellow colour. One thing for sure these plants are flowering they are healthy
