And for comparison, most of Line 2 is built on the north side of Bloor Street and has only 1 entrance on the intersection. Granted the buses mostly have a loop that they use to directly drop passengers in the fare paid zone, but still.
Most stations on Line 2 are having second entrances built to bring them up to the fire code.

Some interesting history here:

If the Eglinton Station of Line 5 is not available, why not open the section between York City Centre (Mt. Dennis) Station and Allen (Cedarvale) Station early, until Eglinton Station becomes available?

It's possible the contract is worded in such a way that accepting a partially completed line will make it difficult to impossible for Metrolinx to pursue late fees for the incomplete section, and Metrolinx really enjoys lawsuits for perceived breach of contract.

why do we have people still asking this question? Both Metrolink and the TTC have made it clear that they don't have any intentions of opening the line until it's fully completed from Mount Denis to Kennedy

The subway would be very hard to extend westward till we get someone like Doug Ford come in power.

A phase 2 would extend to Yonge and a phase 3 to Don Mills. Any further extension eastwards would be difficult. We'll likely just see red bus lanes for decades like the 86/116 corridor.

Perhaps Ontario Line tech would have been better for this line to build it longer with overground sections and guarantee that it's all off of the road.

Why do people keep saying Ontario Line tech? Electric powered rail vehicles with automated train control?
More like a specification ML came up with that would reduce the cost of construction of stations, tunnels and elevated structures. It’s just designing around physics.

If the Sheppard Line is any indication, even if Harris didn't cancel this line, it would've had the same fate where it would be a stub to nowhere that would be politically challenging to extend anywhere, leading to a decade of bickering on how to more cheaply extend it with LRTs or whatnot, likely leading to linear transfers. In other words, I think the eglinton crosstown is ultimately better in terms of what we ultimately got. This is made worse by the fact that at least the Sheppard Subway went Somewhere, a Suburban Mall is at least a destination of note, unlike York Centre which at the time was a literal green field.

The thing is, no eastern extension was EVER planned, not even as a potential Phase 3/4 (well, I think there was one planned in the 60s/70s, but this iteration did not). Actually, the biggest problem with this plan was the fact that bridging the gap between the U was not even considered in any plan.

Somewhere, they have paper napkins with this for near Mt. Dennis (where the No Frills is now)...
