The clock tower was iconic, and I have mixed feelings about it being dismantled.

As for the mall never being the same, I hope you're right, because EMTC has been a pretty sad mall for 5-10 years, if not longer.

I agree, it’s too bad they couldn't find a way to preserve the clock tower, and just a find a way to modernize it, along with the mall. It's very iconic, and without it the mall will almost become unrecognizable. Apart from the layout of the mall being the same, there won’t be anything left of its past history to remember it by.

It would be cool if they somehow thought of a way to take one of the faces from the clock that was on the inside of the center court's tower and integrated it into the new center court. They could have decided to integrate the clock's face into the center of the new court's floor underneath a clear glass display. It would serve as a center piece that could be clearly visible when you look down from the balcony of the second floor, and also as reminder of the mall's past. Though now when I think about it, that would probably look funny. :p Either way, they should find a place to display it somewhere…it would be a shame if all of the clock tower’s components were just dumped out.

It would be quite nice if they can reuse the clock tower in a landscaped plaza leading to the mall - like around where the big boxes are. Too bad that isn't happening.

Sigh...it's sad to see it go, but these photos really do show how dated the mall is today. It's virtually unchanged from when I saw the midnight premiere of Jurassic Park there.

I don't think anyone ever refers to "Peel" as an area. Proper usage would be "Peel Region" or "Region of Peel" or "Mississsauga and Brampton" (seeing as Mississauga seems to be eyeing secession again).

But in southern York Region ppl do tend to think of the three southern municipalities more akin to being a single city more than Mississauga and Brampton is. Probably because of the way the cities there have streets as borders with no sense of separation.

I wonder if Peel would be dissolved if Mississauga separates, as it wouldn't be very viable with only two municipalities.

If Mississauga separates, I have no doubt Peel would cease to exist. Brampton would be newly independent, and Caledon would probably join either Dufferin or Simcoe County.

That said, I'm not sure if Mississauga will be allowed to separate. If it did, would Peel Police be split up too? Into a Mississsauga and Brampton police force? How would Peel Police assets be divided up?
