There was a missed opportunity of preserving this block to go with the rest of the "stacked" blocks they plan on putting here, IMO.

Especially given that these three office buildings were among the first structures of any substance in this part of the province:

There's also city hall which was demolished decades ago. It suits Mississauga that all these buildings will eventually come down for bigger things

It was just simply not worth preserving. It's a small, uncompetitive office building sitting in the middle of a giant parking lot.

According to Magil Laurentian, the asset management company that formerly managed 151 City Centre Drive, it was class B office space. Leading up to demolition, it was probably approaching class C territory. A preservation approach would have meant significant upgrades to make it competitive again, more than likely including a complete reclad of the facade to bring it into line with the design of the new towers. For a building of this size, it is just more cost effective to demolish and replace it with new class A office space in the tower podium, which is exactly what is happening.

^I'm curious - will the businesses formerly occupying this tower be able to afford the new Class A space?

Well, I would imagine that they have found new office space elsewhere by now, so does it really matter? There's definitely no shortage of class B office space in MCC so I'm doubtful they got priced out of the area.

Some clean up before the core come down. It will be gone early next week.

When the 72s tower is built, it will become the 2nd tallest in Mississauga with Absolute falling from tallest to 4th plac
