This is the last batch of images that I am going to run from last night, photos of a few of the slides that were shown during the presentation. These do not reproduce that well, especially single model shots against black, so I am not including any of those. We will run more images when we get the official digital files!

I actually like these pictures of the new designs better than what we saw before... If he made them a tad less boxy (maybe add more curves to the facade a la 8 Spruce Street) I'd really like it.

I do hope that going forward, they let him do his thing.......

So, who is "they"? The City? There are some final details to iron out before the Official Plan amendment is applied for and approved, but they are relatively minor, and the City has made major concessions to keep this moving forward while pulling it in in other places, and still letting Gehry still be Gehry.

By all reports, Frank is very happy with the way the project is resolving now, and I think we will find that there will be lots to celebrate over when sales of the west tower are launched.

yes, 'they' would be the city.....

Waiting for the day we can all celebrate something...:)

We've had plenty to celebrate in the past 12-14 years, plenty. Plan another party for sometime in 2015 for when this is locked down and ready to move forward.

Since they will be preserving some of the warehouses, I hope that the project will remove the white/gray paint from the brick. That by itself will look a lot better.

I hope that Mr Gehry can refine the towers to carry upward some of the angled wave pattern of the bottom. I wold rather see this sculptural aspect to the tower forms than the waterfall effect down the side. I hope that interesting things can be done with precast to make this project affordable yet striking. Our own development industry could use more examples of how to economize without losing creativity.

Whatever... I suppose this would be an "iconic" addition to our skyline but on a practical note who would want to live in a 92 story building? I can answer my own question…probably lots of people, especially if it's designed by Gehry. Personally, I'd hate it. Always waiting for an elevator, the isolation from street level activity, it all seems so cold and alienating. I can see these super tall buildings as office towers but not as residences. Toronto is not an island with limited space like Manhattan or even Montreal. There is no compelling reason for such tall residential buildings. It seems silly to me. In the 80's I regularly had design meetings on one of the upper floors of Commerce Court. I was always struck by the sterile ambiance created by being perched up so high. I'd hate to live like that. However… I realize I'm in the minority and if built this Gehry proposal would probably sell out quickly.
I'd much rather see more emphasis placed on renovating our main streets with 6 to 10 story residential/commercial proposals.

The last 3 places I have lived, I have stayed under the 8th floor. Makes getting up and down easy when there is a lot of elevator traffic, as you can use the stairs to go down.

That being said, being 32 stories above the city at the Met was one of my favourite places. The sterile ambiance you loathe is something I miss. Watching the city happening below you, but experiencing the quietness that you don't get on lower floors was incredible. Hearing a light hum from the mechanical units on top of buildings below you at night is also something I miss. I can't sleep with my windows open now as I hear talking, cars, trucks, yelling and everything else that goes on in the city.

Super tall buildings are by their very nature designed for people who want their head in the clouds. Literally.

One long-term power outage or elevator breakdown, and the thrill of living on a high floor gets a little tarnished :) Especially if you have a dog that needs to go out. Even when the elevators work, there is of course the issue of waiting for them. First world problems :) (but it's something to consider when deciding whether or not to live on a high floor)

I am so pissed off right now. the city council f@%^$~ up the whole project. they can't manage the infrastructure of a city and they just ruined a proposal. the skyline looks dull because of these guys. there is nothing interesting in Toronto's skyline. so many ugly looking buildings and two more are being added to the skyline. i wasn't expecting this from Gehry he really disapointed me. the only good thing in these two towers is the height, which i am damn sure will be reduced by the city council because they cant see us happy. i am not interested in these towers anymore. After so much wait and patience thats what we got-crap.

yup offically lost interest in this project! Its not a horrible new render, but nothing near what was. So dissapointing.!!!!! What a lost opportuntiy. I supose this means that an Amazing project will be inevitable and need to be made up for as this and tenyorks redesign and the casino tower renders a wile back and the twin shard like towers on. front. shame on you city council. You now owe it to the city and its visitors to bring everyone a breathtaking structure.
