Not sure if there's an HBS catch-all thread, but in lieu:

DTAH selected for Humber Bay Park Phase 1 Implementation
Following the successful completion of the award-winning Humber Bay Park Master Plan, DTAH has been selected by the City of Toronto to lead the landscape architecture for phase 1 implementation of the Master Plan, including ponds revitalization in Humber Bay Park East. Humber Bay Park, with its system of trails, rugged shoreline, and dramatic views, is a unique and rare waterfront experience within the larger metropolitan Toronto area. The 43-hectare park is owned by the Toronto Region Conservation Authority (TRCA) and operated by the City of Toronto Parks Forestry & Recreation Division.

Work is moving ahead on the first phase of work here.

In a report to the November 19th Board Meeting of the TRCA, found here: https://pub-trca.escribemeetings.com/filestream.ashx?DocumentId=7992

We find the following:

Quick note here to other posters, I know we had extensive discussions here at UT on some of the concepts in the revitalization plan by DTAH.

But they aren't in this thread.

A quick search didn't turn them up.

Any idea where we buried them all?

This thread is overdue for an update.

Lets start w/the shoreline maintenance work, which the TRCA has been doing here since 2021:

I'm going to say right now that this is absurd.

I'm all for increased environmental standards, but that is not a justification for essentially re-doing a completed design, doubling the associated cost and delaying delivery for the project.

One should see what they have done to the beach between the eastern and western headlands. The community was under the impression that the beach would be improved, they have just covered it in cobblestone, making it totally inaccessible. Rather sad and sneaky of the City to do that, considering the beach was the first and foremost concern for the residents in the public consultation sessions.

they should scrap the building and use the 1.5 mil towards the rest of the project. The building that will look abandoned in 2 years!

Extremely disappointing if they have indeed made the former beach area inaccessible. I used to take our grandchildren to that beach when they were in town. There was a fallen tree which had washed ashore at some time that they loved to play on.

I haven't seen what the current state on the park is, but you can already see them paving the beach with armor stone in my post from Nov 2023:
Aren't they supposed to put up silt barrier where they're laying armour stone? They're digging up so much sediment, the runoff can be seen from space (allegedly)

Construction update April 2024.

Some bird's eye views:

For some reason they put a raised curved pathway through the winding snaking lowlands that I assumed was going to be the ice skating trail. And they dotted this new path with light post footings every 5 meters or so:

I hear from locals that after some backlash they put the beach back in place. Not sure if this is what they meant. There is now a large river rock beach area. Not as nice as sand would have been, but at least it's not armor stone:

There are large swaths of wilderness that have been dozed over for the construction of the armor stone shoreline:

This is in the rough area of what was supposed to be a "fishing pier". Doesn't look like a pier. Maybe this is the base of a pier?
