I was thinking an actual family farm.
From aerial photos of the area when square one opened circa 1973, most of the land around the mall looked like family farms. But according to reports, Ted Rogers owned this land since the 60’s and I doubt if he farmed the land. His initial intention might’ve been for it to host Radio/telecom antennae.

Yes, it's McDonald's Canada itself publicly admitting that the burger looks much better in the photo than in reality.
 
While M3 is the more pleasing of the three from that render (and assuming it will be built like that in the end), I have a hard time looking at M1 & 2. It looks like one of those interesting ideas that doesn't really work as a building - a twisty that doesn't really want to be a twisty? Either way, it's way too jarring, IMO.
 
You don't have to wait for the glazing if the structure itself is weirdly shaped. Glazing won't change the shape.
