I loved this proposal, and was so excited to see it start construction, but as it goes up, I like it less and less. The overall detailing and execution has just been terrible, I just can't get over how bad the metal panels are - just utterly sloppy.

Do you actually think this is quality metal panel work? Is this the quality of work you want to see on a design as well thought out as this?

From what I see, its lazy shop drawing review. The amount of offcuts that could have been avoided are staggering. There are only a number of repeated conditions, and the metal panels could have been standardized, instead it seems they went ad-hoc, or didnt care.

Again overall design is very good, but the execution is just not there.
 
I kinda wonder if there are some folks who post here that are overly/hyper sensitive to details, like that one person who documented the repeat patterns with the metallic cladding over on the Forma thread...
 
...to be clear though, the spaces in the cladding bother me too. But I haven't ruled out that with a project of this caliber that they wouldn't fine tune things when the tower is more completed for a final polish. So I am willing to wait and see how this will come together at the end of it all before writing it off with the gnashing of teeth.

Considering theres no oil canning and crisscrossing semi-gloss mismatched spandrel mullions that were all the rage 10 years ago, this looks pretty good from my vantage.

Not that theres anything wrong with criticism of any project but I challenge anyone whos nitpicking this project or projects like 10 Prince Arthur, Forma etc to go and observe the design quality of completed residential ,rental stock, and student residences in Waterloo.
