Sidewalk already feels wider with the imposing concrete staircase now removed.

I’m glad to finally see the removal of the concrete staircase that encroaches on the sidewalk. It reduces pedestrian space by half. I never understood how it got approved. The courtyard was nice but the rest of it... meh.

The staircase landing was bad enough, leaving barely enough room for one person walking south and one north to walk past on the sidewalk, but there was actually a stone lip of about 4 inches sticking out from the top of the landing (about 3 to 4 feet in height) which made it downright dangerous if you were the person walking closest to it..

Not to jump too far off topic but Avenue Road sidewalks have always been an issue especially from Bloor to St Clair. There's a group working widening the sidewalks, and the city is conducting a study on the matter.
