Ah well, at this point we're headed for another Uncle Doug government anyways so it doesnt matter much. Only question is if it will be a majority or a minority, and even if it's a minority this issue is not one that would trigger another election.

Essentially, the MSF has practically no chance of being relocated (and this is even before considering the fact of land substitutes).

Relocated to where, exactly? There's a real shortage of suitable, cheap land along the line...
There's other locations around there. To the north is a huge storage facility and light industrial. There's the Costco to the west. There's that SmartCentre up on Laird :)))

Could even put a second deck on Greenwood Yard and use that.

And why isn't underground with commercial built on top an option? Montreal has underground garages with various buildings on top.

here ill do what MX will do if they are asked to justify against those options.

other side of rail corridor: way too complex and expensive trying to get over CP's tracks.
costco: if the space fits it i can see the justification, could intoduce complications with the maintenance buildings and storage buildings separated from each other
smartcenter: they actually did look into that and discounted it due to the fact that double the jobs were impacted compared to the overlea option. also because of the obvious cost of buying out the huge shopping center
greenwood: LMAO thats so expensive its not even funny also would need to build a new ttc yard first. delaying the completion date by a long time
underground: same reason we dont put this entire line underground, it saves so much money being above ground. tell you what....have the community put up the cash to bury the MSF and im down....same with leslieville BTW

A semi-underground/decked MSF is certainly an option I didn't see shortlisted. The east-central waterfront could work maybe. Have it designed so that it could be incorporated into a future development.

Cross post from 663 King Street West - the Banknote Building and site of the Ontario Line construction site and future Bathurst - King Station.

According to an office worker in the building this evening (663 King West has both residential and office accommodation, as well as the Banknote bar), occupants of the building - both residential and office, have been given until the end of July to move out. Banknote, being ground floor might have a bit longer. But it is happening...

Subject: Don Valley West Debate Dominated by Opposition to Train Yard Being Placed in Thorncliffe Park
To: No Train Yard <notrainyard@savetpark.ca>

The Don Valley West debate on May 19th, 2022 held at 45 Overlea Blvd was dominated by protest and questions opposing the placement of the train yard. The moderator for the debate had to limit the overwhelming number of questions. The candidates were further peppered with questions for over 30 minutes after the debate ended.

Please email the candidates and others in a position of influence to stop the train yard from being built in the heart of Thorncliffe Park that introduces a heavy industrial use that replaces 30 businesses and 1,200 community jobs, when alternative heavy industrial lands are available to site the train yard.

The moderators should have asked these "protestors" the very simple question: "Where would you like us to put the train yard?"

The answer would probably be "I don't know, just anywhere but here". Clearly highlighting that these folks are the epitome of NIMBYs.

It's absolutely hilarious they don't think the train yard should go there. It's literally the PERFECT place for it. People are nuts.
