To echo earlier comments, I, too, was disheartened to see the evolution of the design on this one, thinking mostly about the differences in the at-grade experience. Obviously, we're very early days here, but looking at those latest renders illustrating a close-up view of the vehicle access area, I'm worried this'll be all too similar to the mess of a podium that we've now got across the street at the old Four Seasons.

The other thing I liked about the earlier iteration from a grade experience standpoint was the apparent opening up of the colonnade stretches at two points along Avenue; right now, it's rather dark and uninviting and people shuffle through quickly (granted, there's little reason to stop). The renderings made it seem as though there was a plan to brighten that all up and raise the height of the overhang, which could've gone a long way to improving the pedestrian experience.

I thought this thread is about them turning their hotel into an apartment building

There are currently - and, under these plans, will continue to be - two towers on this site. The southerly tower is planned to be converted into luxury rentals, and the northerly tower and to-be-created podium in between will be Hyatt space.

I'm also kind-of hating this latest iteration. While I get they're respecting the original heritage features - I think it's also fair to assess the existing heritage is a bit flawed. It would have been great to have retail extend up Avenue Road instead of the parking turn-around that's illustrated. The language of the new addition also feels really alien to the existing building - it'd be great if they would have at least tried to match the existing stone, instead of the near black stone that's being illustrated. Lastely - this is Yorkville afterall - this is totally one area of the city that deserves a little bling love.

The dataBase file has now been corrected. Thanks for catching that!

Exciting. A few renderings in there I don't think we'd seen before:
