An older application from 2004 which formed the master plan to permit Conservatory Group's development of Platinum Tower, Platinum XO, and Pearl Residences, in addition to the (relatively) new Claude Watson School of Arts ... there is in fact a fourth tower which was approved by the OMB (implemented thru ZBL 459-2005) along the Yonge Street frontage which is to rise 34 storeys in the future, it would be interesting to see when this project comes to market, this final tower will complete the overall re-development of this block bounded by Yonge, Hollywood, Doris, & Spring Garden.

City Planning Request for Directions Report (prior to the OMB hearing) from October 2004 ... orginally the Yonge tower was proposed to be 35s, and Pearl Residences were proposed to be 2 towers of 24s each ... but the final OMB approved plan permited a 34s Yonge tower and consolidated Pearl to be one larger 24s building while enlarging the school property, thereby chaning the overall plan from 5 towers + a school to 4 towers + a school

A recent inquiry with City Planning staff advises Conservatory Group has not taken any further steps to advance the Yonge St tower proposal any further ... when the time comes, a Site Plan Approval application will be necessary

Original Master Plan
Bldg 'A' = Platinum, Bldg 'B' = Platinum XO, Bldg 'C' = Yonge tower, Bldgs 'D'+'E' = Pearl

In the elevation drawings, the buildings dont look half-bad. Unfortunately, precast looks much better on paper than in real life!

augghh..whyyy Conservatory Group! They are the worst builder i've encounter thus far.

such a beautiful location destroyed once again by Conservatory Group.

Sigh... this group of towers will not be the highlight of North York City Centre. I hope Gibson House looks better... And please for the love of god would someone shovel some money in Bazis' direction so Emerald Park can be put up?

Anyway, like all the other unbuilt condos, I think we're looking at years before anything goes up on this location.

^^So true! NYCC is clearly becoming the place to be if you like boring precast monstrosities or plain glass boxes.

What will ever happen to SHAWARMA MAX?

Let's see. West-facing unit: right on Yonge St. with all its accompanying noise and pollution. East facing unit: two 36-floor towers right next door. No thank you.

In all fairness though ... how is that different from any other condo in downtown Toronto or on Yonge in NYCC ??

They'll lease a spot in the new condo's base, only it'll be smaller, so they'll have to rename themselves Shawarmax.

To fit the theme of new condo retailing, they'll also become a dry cleaner that sells shawarmas while you wait.

Ahaha. But you know they are going to be in the same building when its redone?
