Snagged this elementary school new build from the TDSB website.


@AlexBozikovic 's favourite school architects at it again (cough)........ ( on this one.....Alex and I completely agree......... )

Site is the current Etobicoke Alternative Secondary/Silverhill Park (which was always a lease from the TDSB to the City of Toronto).

Site Plan will nix the existing Park, siting the new school across the northern 1/2 of the site:

Look at all that surface parking!! Such a great use of space!

Though, Alex and I will agree, broadly on the need to invest more in design fees and construction............ I have a hard time believe we can't do better than the above for nearly 62M; when there are no land acquisition costs either!

The design of this school is laughable. If they're trying to go for the modern day prison look they're doing a really damn good job of that.

And the fact that they're reserving space for "future portables" is actually downright shameful and embarrassing. Is this what our education system has crumbled to?
 
I grew up in central Etobicoke and I've never even heard of this school. I don't even recognize any of the street names shown on that map 😆

And yes, the design and layout are total garbage. Send it back and start over. F!

Just to clarify - the existing school on this block is getting demolished?
