Edit/update: I finally got over there today, and there is indeed a shoring rig on site. A big honking yellow one to be precise.

Also on site is large tent set up housing something....perhaps ancient alien artifacts they unintentionally earthed up in the shoring process. Though I suspect it's for something more prosaic than that.
