Cool design by Core. Hope Tribute pulls it off despite their spotty track record.

Good one by Hume

Welcome to Toronto, where it’s ‘just say no’:

Whatever else Torontonians may be, they’re always in the “no.â€

No is their automatic answer to any question; their default position, fallback response and kneejerk reaction. Faced with no matter what issue, decision or proposal, Torontonians are more likely to say no than anything else.

When it comes to development, how good a scheme may be, how sensitive, needed, timely, altruistic or beautiful means nothing. Our answer is invariably a firm no.

The most recent example was the outcry that greeted the Loblaws plan to build a small supermarket on College St. west of Bathurst on the north edge of Kensington Market. If the naysayers are to be believed, poor little Kensington will crumple and disappear under the onslaught of the big bad corporation

Some NIMBY claims are so outrageous, they don’t deserve to be taken seriously. Many neighbourhood associations could use a group therapist more than a community planner.

This block of College really needs this shot in the arm. There's some great stuff nearby (I'm thinking of you Caplansky's), but this stretch has felt under appreciated for a long time. Thanks for the pics RM!

Yes, I was everywhere today--breakfast in SLM, window shopping in the EC followed by some Essence of Life quality stuff in K-Market. All before the College Condo Kids woke up from their pits of drunken stupors
