This project isn't even on Yonge itself.

Actually,... it's on Yonge,... and it's not!

St.George Anglican Church used to own this land as well as the land on Yonge; this Diamante Diamond project got the eastern land in a deal with St.George Anglican Church where the developer rebuilt the new Church & its community centre on the eastern land on Yonge Street - which completed about 5 years ago as this condo development project continued to fight for more height & density.

Thus, if you count the original Church's land, yes this condo project is on Yonge,... at least when the original 5350 Yonge development application came in.
But if you consider the new severance for the 2 lots, no - condos are not on Yonge.

BTW, Diamante Diamond (at 5350 Yonge) is only 125feet off Yonge whereas 88 Sheppard is 400feet off Sheppard Ave East!

Personally, I like having St.George Anglican Church with its community centre on Yonge Street frontage much better than having another wall of condo towers! The Church is distinctive & well built adding variety to the streetscape.

St.George Anglican Church seems to be the only church remaining on Yonge Street in North York Centre which used to be full churches,...
- St.Edwards Roman Catholic Church used to be on Yonge at Spring Garden more than 30 years ago (site of Conservatory Groups's Pearl Place - giving you an idea how long that's been stalled!). St.Edwards Roman Catholic Church relocated to Churchill Ave - hidden in the single residential house neighbourhoods west of Beecroft
- Gabriel's Parish used to front onto Sheppard but got moved back in another condo deal - hidden behind a low of condo towers east of Bayview Village
