They just poured those sections. So probably they just want to protect them from the elements over the weekend.

Not much to be seen from this angle that Benito’s overhead shot doesn’t show but I thought I’d share photos with a quick update that they’ve made a lot of progress this afternoon in setting the forms for the ground pour.

They appear to be leaving an opening in the north west corner of the tower much larger than the elevator shaft which seems to confirm that there’ll be an open stairwell from the main retail floor to the underground floor. In other words, a 2 level Apple Store.

There’s the elevator shaft and around it, they’re leaving a large opening in the forming which appears to be for a staircase leading downstairs to what’ll be a a -1 level retail level with a double height ceiling.
